We are in the midst of planning for the 14th annual Willamette Valley Fiddle Contest (WVFC) which will be held Saturday, Aug 6, 2011 at the Benton County Fair in Corvallis Oregon.

 While fiddle contest participants come from all over the country, we are very proud that several of last year's winners were from Corvallis.  In fact three Corvallis fiddlers who have achieved national and international prominence, Rebecca Lomnicky (2005 winner of the U.S. Scottish Fiddle Championship and 2009 winner of the Glenfiddich International Scottish Fiddle Championship), Alex Hargreaves (2007 Grand National Fiddle Champion and three-time Oregon State Grand Champion ), and Tatiana Hargreaves (2009 Clifftop Fiddle Champion and two-time Oregon State Grand Champion),  all played in the  WVFC as children.  Alex and Tatiana have both won the WVFC Open Championship.

 The Willamette Valley is becoming known as a “hot bed” of young fiddlers.  The WVFC is an important part of keeping the aural tradition of fiddle music alive and well in the 21st century in Oregon. We are only able to continue this tradition through the donations from various sources, including the very welcome contributions we have received from individuals, businesses, and associations over the years.

 As always, we display sponsor names prominently on our sponsor board and remind the audience of their contribution throughout the contest.  Now we also list our sponsors and links to their respective web sites on our new WVFC web site (thanks to Jon Franke Violin Maker!)
